Colossal Partner Spotlight: National Park Foundation
Our Ultimate Explorer competition is in full swing, and the excitement is building! One lucky adventure seeker will soon have the chance to win $10,000, embark on an personalized itinerary through our national parks in an expedition-ready Winnebago RV, and appear in Outside Magazine.
But there’s more to this competition than just adventure and exploration. We’re incredibly proud to support the National Park Foundation (NPF) through the Ultimate Explorer competition. The National Park Foundation is dedicated to protecting over 85 million acres of land and water, preserving history and culture, educating and engaging youth, and connecting people everywhere to the wonder of parks. Since 1967, they have been instrumental in preserving some of America's most treasured places, ensuring they remain unspoiled for future generations.
As we celebrate this partnership, we’d love to share some of our favorite national parks that embody the spirit of adventure, conservation, and natural wonder. Whether planning your next trip or simply daydreaming about wide-open spaces, these parks are must-see destinations for any explorer.
1. Yellowstone National Park (Wyoming, Montana, Idaho)
Established in 1872, Yellowstone is America’s first national park, and it remains one of the most iconic. With its geothermal features like Old Faithful, the vibrant Grand Prismatic Spring, and diverse wildlife, including bison, bears, and wolves, Yellowstone offers a unique glimpse into the wild beauty of the American West. It’s a perfect spot for anyone seeking to connect with nature and experience the raw power of the earth.
2. Grand Canyon National Park (Arizona)
One of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the Grand Canyon is a breathtaking sight that must be seen to be believed. Carved by the Colorado River over millions of years, the canyon stretches 277 miles long and offers endless opportunities for hiking, rafting, and photography. Whether you’re gazing at the sunrise from the South Rim or venturing into the canyon’s depths, the Grand Canyon promises an unforgettable adventure.
3. Great Smoky Mountains National Park (Tennessee, North Carolina)
Known for its misty mountain views, lush forests, and rich biodiversity, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited national park in the United States. This park offers a variety of experiences, from hiking and camping to wildlife watching and exploring historic sites. The vibrant fall foliage and abundant wildflowers in spring make it a year-round destination for nature lovers.
4. Zion National Park (Utah)
Zion National Park is a haven for adventurers seeking dramatic landscapes and thrilling outdoor activities. The park is renowned for its towering sandstone cliffs, narrow slot canyons, and the challenging Angels Landing hike. Whether you’re an experienced hiker or simply looking to enjoy the stunning views from the valley floor, Zion’s unique beauty will leave a lasting impression.
5. Acadia National Park (Maine)
On the rugged coast of Maine, Acadia National Park offers a mix of mountain, ocean, and forest environments. For much of the year, Cadillac Mountain is the first place to see the sunrise in the United States. With its scenic drives, hiking trails, and opportunities for wildlife viewing, Acadia is a gem of the East Coast and a favorite for those who love both land and sea.
