Frequently Asked Questions

YOUTH SAFETY & PARENTAL CONTROL

What is COPPA, and how does Colossal ensure youth safety online?

COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) is a U.S. law designed to protect the online privacy of children under 13. Colossal complies with COPPA by not marketing to children under 13 and ensuring that parents or guardians remain in full control of their child’s participation and information. Parental or legal guardian consent is required for participants under 13. Parents may review, correct, or request deletion of their child’s information at any time.

How public is my child’s competition profile?

Each child’s profile has its own unique page link that families can share with friends and supporters who would like to participate in voting.

Because voting takes place online, profiles may also be visible to visitors who browse the competition website or group pages. We encourage families to share their child’s link thoughtfully and to use photos and information they feel comfortable displaying on a public website.

To help protect families’ privacy, competition dashboards and profile pages are removed after the competition concludes and are no longer accessible nor stored for future use.

What if I want my child's information reviewed or removed?

We understand and respect parental protection. If you have any concerns regarding children's safety or wish to have a profile reviewed or removed, contact our support team, and we will promptly provide you with the help you need.

IDENTITY VERIFICATION & ELIGIBILITY

Why do you require a profile photo for youth participants?

We use photos for identity verification to ensure every participant is a real person and meets eligibility requirements. This also allows supporters to see who they are voting for. They are used only within the competition and are never sold, repurposed, or otherwise shared with any third parties.

ONLINE PRIVACY & DATA SECURITY

Does entering a Colossal competition impact NIL rights or youth sports eligibility?

By entering a Colossal competition, participants (or parents or legal guardians on behalf of minors) grant Colossal permission to use their name, image, likeness, and submitted content solely in connection with operating the competition.

Participation in fundraising competitions may have implications for eligibility in certain youth, scholastic, or amateur sports programs. Rules governing Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL), amateur status, and athletic eligibility may vary by league, organization, state, and country.

Colossal does not determine or certify athletic eligibility. Parents and/or legal guardians of competitors are solely responsible for reviewing applicable rules and consulting with local athletic associations, schools, leagues, or governing bodies to determine whether participation in a Colossal competition may affect a child’s eligibility for sports or other activities.

How does Colossal protect a participant’s personal information and data?

At Colossal, we prioritize online privacy and data security. We use multiple layers of protection to keep participant information safe.

Access is strictly restricted to a limited number of trained team members who require it for:

  • Secure payment processing

  • Auditing votes

  • Support requests

  • Managing competition operations

We also regularly run security scans and monitor our websites for vulnerabilities to prevent unauthorized access.

Can I update or delete personal data?

Yes. You can manage personal information, including email, phone number, and preferences, directly through the account dashboard. If you wish to withdraw from a competition or request data deletion, simply email our support team.

Does Colossal sell personal information?

No. We do not sell personal information. Participant data is used strictly for the purpose of running our competitions fairly and supporting our competitors and voters. We are committed to identity protection and information security.

REAL HUMAN SUPPORT

Will I talk to a real human if I have a privacy concern?
