But beyond the fun and friendly competition, this contest serves a greater purpose—supporting PAWS (Progressive Animal Welfare Society) in its mission to help animals thrive.
A Competition That Saves Lives
America’s Favorite Pet is more than just a title; it’s an opportunity for pet parents to raise awareness and funds for an incredible cause. As participants and their pets strive for the top spot, their efforts contribute to PAWS, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing shelter, rehabilitation, and advocacy for cats, dogs, and wildlife in need.
Since its founding in 1967, PAWS has made a profound impact on the lives of countless animals. The organization has:
United more than 130,000 cats and dogs with loving families through adoption services.
Provided medical care and rehabilitation to over 140,000 sick, injured, and orphaned wild animals.
Worked tirelessly to improve the lives of animals through community outreach, advocacy, and education programs.
Since 2023, donations generated through Colossal's America's Favorite Pet competition resulted in a total of over $9 million granted to PAWS through its charity grantmaking partner, DTCare. Read more here.

In addition to domestic animals, PAWS cares for injured and orphaned wildlife, nursing them back to health before releasing them into their natural environments. From baby birds to injured deer, PAWS’ expert rehabilitation team ensures that these animals get a second chance at life.
3. Advocacy & Education
PAWS works to promote responsible pet ownership, humane treatment of animals, and conservation efforts through educational programs and advocacy initiatives. By engaging with communities, they strive to create a more compassionate world for all living creatures.
